Our 50th Heart Seminar = 1600+ homes for others
June 14-19, 2021 marked our 50th Heart of the Samurai seminar! What we experienced was "generosity" in a context that will not be broken by the circumstances of the world. In the midst of a pandemic and chaos, over 106 leaders from around the world gathered in service to build 6 homes for others.

We've been linking arms with Project Mercy since 2003 to improve and provide the basic living standards and build homes for hundreds of families. In perfect harmony, we celebrated a 50th anniversary for Heart of the Samurai while Project Mercy celebrated a milestone of 1,600+ homes built.

"This is the 50th time we've had the opportunity to bring in leaders and create something bigger than ourselves. Many talk about servant leadership, AND these Executives and successful business leaders are here walking the talk. The result is that six families will have a home to live in." - Krystal Zellmer, Vice President of Klemmer
It was a crowning gift to receive news coverage on this momentous occasion. In a world where news is often negative, contentious or even depressing, we were thrilled to be the good news. If you haven’t already seen, we were featured on 2 different news channels on June 18th, 2021. See how News Channel 7 in San Diego covered the story:
And this video from the CBS8 evening news:
We welcomed 88 students and 13 incredible staff members along with our facilitation team to the 50th Heart of the Samurai seminar. Students experienced the struggle of growth, the hope for a brighter future, and the satisfaction of service.
As if our hearts were not already overflowing with joy and gratitude, we celebrated 25 years of the Heart of the Samurai seminars with a ceremonial cutting of cake! Significantly, CEO Kimberly Zink and Vice President Krystal Zellmer used Samurai Swords.

After 25 years and 50 Heart of the Samurai seminars, we boldly declare that we will intentionally move forward in an ever-shifting world. This gets us curious - what context has stayed true for you in spite of the circumstances? Share below.
